Continuing with our interviews from Tales from Our Write Side Anthology authors, today I have EC Jarvis with me. EC agreed to answer a few questions for me! How wonderful!
Del: If you could meet any one person, who would it be and why?
EC: I have a tough time choosing between Sir Terry Pratchett and Spike Milligan. Both late great icons of British creativity. I have such admiration for the way their minds worked and how they applied their thoughts to their work. I’m very sad I never got to meet either of them.
Del: Why writing? What drove you to pursue it as more than a closed hobby?
EC: I had a small group of persistent friends who encouraged me to keep working away with the books and then to pursue publishing. Honestly, without them it would have probably stayed as just a hobby that I never told anyone I did. When I’m in the mood to write, I can’t not write. It’s like a need that must be fulfilled.
Del: What is your favorite thing to eat?
EC: Oooh so many things! Chocolate, pizza, biscuits, cake, ice-cream… I could go on
Del: What is your favorite genre to write?
EC: I mostly stick with fantasy. There is so much scope within that wide band, scifi, steampunk, epic fantasy, fairytale fantasy, erotic fantasy… I write it all!
Del: Favorite book series and why?
EC: The Sherlock Holmes stories. It’s a lesson in perfect character creation and I just love the intellectual side of the work.
Del: Favorite type of reality t.v.?
EC: I don’t watch hardly any tv, I generally avoid reality tv as a principle. If I wanted my brain to melt out of my ears then perhaps I could take up watching it as a hobby.
Del: Best book you have ever read?
EC: The Emperor’s Edge series by Lindsay Buroker. I love the stories so much that I can read them again and again.
Del: If you could do it all again would you?
EC: Yes, but I’d certainly do a lot of things differently!
