One calculative move changed her life forever.
Aviere Mye thought that she’d left street racing behind after her work as poisoner and apothecary for Charm City’s crime syndicate earned her a place in the Underground.
When she is handed an opportunity to race again, she seizes it, hoping to find answers about her husband’s disappearance. But the Underground had its own plans for her. A string of murders set the authorities on her trail, forcing her to work with Keith Travis, a rogue agent with the FBI, to apprehend the culprit responsible for the crimes.
With only five days to complete the assignment before a bomb explodes, can Aviere survive both Travis and the Renegades?
Welcome to another trip down ARC (advanced reader copy) Reviews R Us if you are just joining us. Wait you say. That’s not the name of this blog. Well, okay. You got me, it’s not. But you get the gist here. I am here with yet another amazing ARC for you to check out. This one is Turbulence, by debut author EM Whittaker.
Em gave me the pleasure of reading her book, Turbulence over the weekend and I have to tell you; it was fucking amazing. I love anything that has to do with cars. I am addicted to the damn things. My dream car? 1969 Ford Mustang LTD, 4 on the floor, soft top, leather interior. *Shivers* Yum. Y’all help make me rich, I am getting that car. Even if I never drive the damn thing… Okay, okay, off track here. I know. I’m sorry. You came to read about the book. Not me prattle on about cars.
Well, you get your wish. To a point. Because this book is all about the awesomeness that is underground street racing, and the trials that come with being involved with the mafia. Now what could be so bad about mixing that? Well, everything actually. It makes people more pissy about their territory. About their people. And about their cars. Add hitmen, shifters, mages and alchemy into the mix, and you have a high octane thrill ride of a book. And that is exactly what EM delivers with Turbulence. I could not put this book down.
The character dynamic alone is well worth it. Take your typical pissed off fed, but lets make him a mage. That hates cars. And shifters. And lets make his partner your typical geek that can hack anything you give him. Thats Travis and Peters. Both supremely pissed about who they have to work for and why. Now lets take our alchemist. Botanist. Medicine woman. Aviere Mye. The Poisoner. She will help you, or kill you if you piss her off. Now lets make her the one thing the two feds hate. A shifter.
Now tie them together by forcing them to work together to find out ho is killing all the hierarchy in Baltimore. In less than a week. Or some vital part of your being gets blown the fuck off and there is nothing you can do about it. What do you do? In Aviere’s case? Race your gorgeous fucking Ferrari around the city and hope the mage can keep up with you so you don’t lose your body parts.
The Problem? You only have 10 miles to not blow up. So you can’t run to far. Which means? Anyone? Hands? You better learn to slightly cooperate at the least. Even if its literally so you keep your pieces together long enough to complete your task, and get what you were told.
With fast cars, death defying psychoticness, kidnapping attempts, mafia ties, OH did I mention cars? This fast paced thrill ride will keep you guessing and on the edge of your seat as you race through the streets with Aviere and Travis as they learn to work together and stop an assassin that has not only the mafia bosses, but them in their sights. If you have adored the Fast and Furious movies or Need For Speed franchise or even the movie, this is what they would look like in print. But with a paranormal twist.
You can buy Turbulence on Amazon right now as a pre-order. It’s set for release this Saturday, December 3rd. It’s Book One of what promises to be a fast paced joy ride of a series.
And while your purchasing that go follow EM on Facebook or even take a look over on her website for a peak at the next book, Drift.
